NEW SESSION with Hannah Trimbath starting Jan. 22, 2012!

AMERICAN TRIBAL STYLE BELLY DANCE - Level 1:

SUNDAYS 4:00-5:00 PM - American Tribal Style (ATS) Belly Dance is a rich style of belly dance blending influences from various folkloric dances of the Middle East and India, as well as Spanish flamenco. This course will introduce you to the fundamental concepts and beautiful stylization of American Tribal Style Belly Dance in the FatChanceBellyDance format as created by Carolena Nericcio. Learn the basic movements and techniques of tribal-style group improvisation shared by ATS dancers all over the world. We will cover belly dance posture, technique, cueing movements in group improvisation, and finger cymbals. Formations and costuming will also be discussed.

What to Bring:

Please bring finger cymbals and dress comfortably, a form-fitting top and yoga pants or long skirt are ideal. You may dance barefoot, with socks, or soft-soled dance shoes. Hip scarves encouraged! Finger cymbals will be available for purchase in class.
